A spontaneous plan to eat at the Turkish Village turned out to be an average experience.
The restaurant is located on Jumeirah Road right next to Lime Tree Cafe. There is ample parking space (which is plus for Jumeirah road). Once you’ve entered the restaurant, you will be welcomed by pretty ladies in traditional Turkish dresses who will guide you to your table.
The servers are a bit uptight (can definitely recommend them to be a little more friendly and welcoming). Anyway, you’ll be surprised to look at the menu. It is extremely extensive and has lots of options for vegetarians as well (phew) but definitely not very pocket friendly.
Now moving on to the food – Although the serving portions were really good, the food itself was average. I found the Chicken Shish Kebabs dry and quite bland. Same goes for the vegetable pie(it was served cold and didn’t taste fresh). What we did like were the Spinach and Cheese stuffed Mushrooms (they were so good!!) and the Baked Mushroom in Clay-pot (sorry couldn’t take a photo as we dug into it right after it was placed on the table hehe). The spicy lentil soup, hummus and the complimentary bread were all decent. If you’re a desi, please don’t expect the food to be anything close to hot (Turkish food is mainly made without spices). I would have loved to talk more but honestly, I don’t have a lot to say (which is sad…)
I wouldn’t recommend you to make a definite trip but maybe if there is no other option, you can give it chance?
